Pediatric Occupational & Physical Therapy Solutions For Neuro Motor Delays
Therasuit is a soft orhotic designed to realign the spine and body weight bearing and loading accuracy for children with cerebral palsy and other neuro-motor conditions affecting their motor abilities.
We use the therasuit and corresponding cage to provide the child aggressive strengthening and stretching to influence development of normalized movement patterns.
MNRI methodology begins with the critical recognition that our brains develop from a foundation of infant involuntary reflexes.
Dr. Masgutova discovered that by retraining the brain through components of the reflex circuit, breakthroughs in new brain growth can encourage improved cognition, visual/auditory processing, and fluidity of body movement patterns.
Cage therapy is an intense physiotherapy treatment approach that involves suspending the child in the center of a Universal Exercise Unit (UEU) by using a variation of elastic bungee cords to facilitate development of weak muscles.
The cords are attached with precision to specific points forming a unique spider web around the child, providing essential suppot.
Astronaut Training is a precise powerful therapeutic protocol that is designed to develop optimal vestibular function, which is an essential for sensory processing and movement control.
The Astronaut Protocol supports efficient and effective movement for social and play skills, and to enhance learning and memory.
Sensory Integration Therapy using therapy swings and a vibration machine can assist the child's adequate sensory processing.
When a child doesn't process and integrate incoming sensory information from vision, auditory, tactile, vesitbular (movement) and proprioceptive (body awareness) stimuli, then brain processing and behavior can be affected.
Visual Acuity determines how clearly we are able to see - and whether glasses will correct for accurate visual clarity.
Visual Processing Skills let our brain efficiently follow a complex sequence to process information so that we understand the images and react accordingly. By stimulating the eye motor nerve, visual processing can improve and be more efficient.
Yoga therapy can provide crucial support as part of therapeutic strategy.
We can use our specialized yoga training to improve behavior and focus, strength, flexibility, balance, and self-regulation, making it an ideal practice for children on the autism spectrum, with ADHD, sensory processing and emotional/behavioral disorders, and other exceptionalities.
Water-based therapy is a low gravity complex environment, with improved stretching and strengthening positions, and is a strong therapeutic modality for brain development.
The water provides a sensory component for the child to process in a tactile modality proprioception (body awareness) as well as a vestibular (movement) modality.
Bal-A-Vis-X (Balance Auditory Vision Exercises) is a brain based program of a series of exercises increasing in complexity inclusive of crossing midline and balancing.
With Bal-A-Vis-X we can support the child to follow a rhythmic pattern that encourages visual and auditory processing skills development and brain growth.
OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS:
Depending on your child's needs, we can help as needed with recommendations for additional professionals who may be needed to support to his/ her therapy, such as:
Kinesio tape is an elastic, adhesive tape that is hypo-allergenic and wearable for days at a time. Therapeutic taping strategy provides strength and stability to muscles and joints, in addition to soft tissue manipulation to correspond with therapy manipulation.
Kinesio tape can be applied to re-inforce appropriate therapeutic movement patterns even after the child leaves his or her therapy session.
An Orthapedist may need to be consulted for a bone density, to make sure the child's bones can tolerate therapy. in addition to monitoring various joint stability including ankle and hip.
Special shoes or orthotics and splints may prevent further joint tightness or correct proper foot alignment when walking or standing.
An orthotist will assist regarding splinting, and orthotics and mold a customized fit for the child.
Your child may need to see an Optometrist and Opthamologist to monitor eye function and acuity along with glasses fitting when appropriate.
Your child may need to see an Audiologist to monitor hearing and fluid levels in the ear.
